LYNX READY TO ROAR

The West Nipissing Lynx Junior A Hockey Club are pleased to announce today that they are West Nipissing’s new Junior A Hockey program and that they will be participating in the upcoming 2016-2017 season in the GMHL (Greater Metro Hockey League).

The new owners, Patrick Miron and Bruno Vezina released the following statement with regards to introducing its new team to the municipality of West Nipissing.

“We as local West Nipissing residents truly believe this municipality deserves a great Junior A hockey program. We are delighted to be able to call Sturgeon Falls our home and we look forward to playing in front of fans who have long been local hockey supporters and who will now have an opportunity to watch some of our finest local prospects display their skills on the ice.

A team has been present here in Sturgeon Falls since the leagues inception in 2006 and we have seen many ups and downs, including a league championship in the 2011-2012 season, but we truly believe this will be a fresh start both on and off the ice for our players and our fans.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all hockey fans in West Nipissing for their tremendous ongoing support over the years and we hope to see this continue both on and off the rink on a regular basis.”

The 2016-2017 schedule has yet to be released but season tickets are available for purchase as we speak.

“We want our team to be more of a social enterprise. We want community members of all ages to attend and actively participate with our team. We have chosen to offer greatly reduced season ticket prices (Adults: $ 100; Seniors: $ 85; Students: $ 75; Children: Free) in order to allow as many fans to attend our games.” says co-owner Bruno Vezina.

Furthermore, the Lynx will be announcing other great news in the coming days with regards to their coaching staff and players.

“We can’t go into specifics just yet but we will be announcing major news in the upcoming days with regards to our coaching staff and players. We believe our staff will undoubtedly help our players develop and hone their skills on the ice but also aid in guiding these young adults in becoming great community leaders.” says co-owner Patrick Miron.

The Lynx have also launched their official website, Facebook page, Twitter page, and Instagram accounts. We invite you to follow us!
